More In 1989, Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki helmed a film called LENINGRAD COWBOYS GO AMERICA, which followed the fortunes of a foreign rock & roll band as they toured the USA. A sizeable cult hit, the film picked up many plaudits and helped establish Kaurismaki as a name to watch. In 1994, Kaurismaki focused his attention on the Leningrad Cowboys once again, as they played a remarkable show to celebrate the ending of the Cold War. The Alexandrov Red Army Ensemble also played, with the two wildly different acts pulling an incredible crowd of 70,000 people. Captured here on camera, watch the astonishing events as they unfold, with the undoubted highlight coming when the groups join forces to work their way through a unique version of "Stairway to Heaven."
